President Card Game Rules

Players: 4 - 12

Play Multiplayer President Online

The Deck and Dealing

President uses a standard deck. All cards are dealt out equally among the players.

In President, based on the variation you are playing, suits may or may not matter.

One player begins by playing a card or a group of cards. Other players must beat previous cards played, by playing a higher value card or card group. Sets of cards can only be beaten by groups of the same size. For instance, a pair of Fours cannot be beaten by a single Five or three Sixes.

Players can also pass, either by choice or because they have no valid cards to play. If all players pass on a particular card, the current play pile is discarded and whoever played the last card starts the new pile.

The goal is to get rid of all cards in hand.

Players score penalty points depending on the order in which they got rid of all of their cards. The first player to do so scores no penalty points, the last player scores 2 penalty points and all other players score 1 penalty point.

The game ends when one player has accrued 4 penalty points - this can also be set to 5 or 6 points. The winner is whoever has the fewest points.

President can also be played for a set number of rounds, after which the game ends. The options are 3, 5 or 10 rounds.

We support several customizable rules and options so you can play Big Two exactly how you like or how you grew up playing with your friends and family. In addition to the classic way of playing, we often have new creative options for you to try to spice up the game if you are interested in trying different spins for fun.

Players determine a set amount of points when the game ends.

Players determine a set amount of rounds (also known as hands or deals) that the game will go to (instead of the points selection above).

Players only have a set amount of time to make their turn after which a turn is automatically played for them and the game proceeds: Fast is 7 seconds, Standard is 15 seconds, Slow is 30 seconds, and Very Slow is 60 seconds. Players can also choose to disable the timer, but that is only for private tables.
